New Writing Strategies
My writing strategy hasn't changed significantly throughout the semester. However, I did notice a shift from the first podcast. When I was writing the podcast, the thing that kept on running through my mind was to write an analysis. This is because when I write, I tend to summarize more than I analyze. I feel like because of this, I wasn't able to fully engage in the writing because I was more focused on the structure part of a paper rather than expressing my thoughts and opinions. I think I was able to make this shift in the literature review because I was able to choose any topic that I wanted to. I was interested in plastic surgery in Korea because it is part of my culture, so I was able to have more fun when writing the paper. I think my approach changed because I was thinking more about the audience and my own opinions rather than thinking about the structure of a "good" essay. In addition, I think I used to go in blindly into an essay without having a question in mind. For example, if I were to write about plastic surgery, I would just think about plastic surgery instead of questions that I could ask. Working on the literature review really helped me change my approach because I now have a question in mind and think about what I am really curious about. This is a much better writing strategy because I don't have to think as hard about how to fill the page limit since I have more to think and write about.
